What We'll Cook Up Together

During our afternoon cooking classes, kids will create both savory and sweet foods, learning essential cooking skills while having fun. This hands-on class focuses on fundamental techniques and working with a variety of ingredients and mediums.

What to Expect:

  • Dough Adventures: From homemade dough to fresh pasta, we'll knead, roll, and shape flour into beautiful deliciousness.

  • Veggie Explorations: Transform ordinary vegetables into tasty dishes - roasted vegetables, hearty soups, creative salads.

  • Practical Dinners: learn a few great dishes to make during the week for your family.

  • Sweet Treats: Bake up simple desserts perfect for special occassions, holidays, and after school snacks. Learning about sugar and how to eat sweets in moderation is the key to enjoying them.

  • Kitchen Skills: Master basic techniques like chopping, measuring, mixing, and food safety. Kids will learn the importance of keeping their spaces tidy and how to prep and clean-up

  • If There’s Extra Time: We’ll fill extra time with games, homework, or other projects.

Why they’ll Love This Class:

The small class size means every student gets plenty of individual attention and hands-on experience. We'll work together in a relaxed, supportive environment where mistakes are part of the learning process. Students will enjoy their creations together at the end of class, and take the recipes and knowledge home.

Perfect for curious cooks ready to expand their skills and try new flavors.

Space is limited to ensure everyone gets the full cooking experience they deserve.

How I Teach

I believe that within a simple dish there are so many learning opportunities — to explore the history, science (nutrition/chemistry), art or culture of a food or dish, or the harvesting and processing of our ingredients. Making a cracker, for example, is a lesson in wheat, gluten, how it’s harvested, ground and sifted into all-purpose flour.

Because kids are inundated with lots of sedentary learning, we make sure to keep things fun, hands-on, and interactive.

I’m a trained chef and have been teaching children and adults over the past 15 years. For more info on me, go to www.jillsantopietro.com If you have any questions, please contact me at jsantopietro@gmail.com.
